Bryce and Maxine Hill and Roy and
Patricia Mindt of Bismarck have established
charitable remainder trusts with the BSC
Foundation to fund student scholarships. The
trusts will pay income to each couple for a
designated period of time. Then the principle
will be endowed and earnings applied to assist
students.
The Hills will receive income for life and
later support scholarships in criminal justice
and business. Bryce taught at BSC for
20 years as the first instructor and chair of
the Criminal Justice program. He retired as
an associate professor in 1995. Bryce was
elected to the Bismarck City Commission
in 1994 served 12 years. Bryce was a faculty
representative on the BSC Foundation
Board of Trustees and involved in numerous
local civic projects, state and national initiatives
and organizations. Maxine graduated
from BSC in 1960 with an associate degree
in business and earned a master’s degree in
management in 1991. She worked 26 years at
the North Dakota auditor’s office and served
20 years as Burleigh County recorder, an
elected position.
The Mindt’s trust will run for 12 years
and then fund scholarships in agriculture. As
BSC graduates, Roy and Patricia have applied
their education and skills to a farming
operation near Sterling and as community
leaders. Roy (’63) and Pat (’62) have AA
degrees in business administration. Pat also
has a certificate from the secretarial program
and worked for the General Adjustment
Bureau in Bismarck. She was president of the
Sterling Homemakers and secretary of the
PTA board. Roy was board president of the
Sterling school and the Sterling elevator, and
charter member of the Sterling Lions Club.
He served in the U.S. Army.
